Darko Aleksovski
Darko Aleksovski, from North Macedonia, presents A Tablescape Between Roots and Flowers. Drawing from childhood memories of potato stamps and a family fabric embroidered with flowers, the work explores how patterns become sites of memory, utopia, and ambiguity. Over months of experimentation, Aleksovski reinterpreted the original floral design, questioning how images of flowers—whether in design, poetry, or daily life—carry both escapist dreams and layered histories. The project unfolds in two parts: a potato-stamp workshop and a participatory mural. Visitors carve stamps, make prints to take home, and leave their stamps behind. Nearby, shelves display the growing collection—an improvised alphabet of stamps—alongside drawings and monotypes, turning a private motif into a collective act of image-making. Here, the tuber shifts from kitchen staple to mark-maker, carrying traces of touch and imagination that resonate in the present moment and far beyond.
