2027 Balkan Projects' Mentorship Program - 3rd Year:Artists from all Balkan countriesOnline - Milan
.–

This year, Balkan Projects marks ten years of standing alongside artists across the Balkan region. To celebrate, we are launching the third edition of our Mentorship Program, expanding the call to emerging artists from eleven Balkan countries—our broadest call to date.

The program began with a question: how can we support emerging artists beyond a one-off opportunity? Our answer has been sustained attention: time to develop ideas, test assumptions, and build connections that outlast the program itself. Following two successful editions, this free, online programcontinues to offer a peer-to-peer space grounded in the conviction that knowledge circulates through conversation, experimentation, and critical reflection.

Three mentees will be selected, each paired with one of this edition’s mentors: Anca Munteanu Rimnic, Adrian Paci, and Ana Prvački. Drawing on their experience and professional insight, the mentors will support participants over nine months as they develop their practice and deepen their engagement with the questions shaping contemporary art today.

Running from January to September 2027, the program adapts to each participant’s needs. It combines group meetings with the Balkan Projects team and monthly online one-to-one sessions between mentors and mentees, with the time between sessions dedicated to individual projects.

An exciting highlight of this edition is our new partnership with Casa degli Artisti in Milan, in connection with its upcoming open call for the Omnirica Residency Program 2026–27. Through this collaboration, one of the three selected mentees will be awarded a one-month residency—an exceptional opportunity to work towards presenting their project, build new connections, and take part in artistic exchange beyond the region.

The program will culminate in a collectively agreed-upon outcome—a presentation, exhibition, publication, symposium, or another format reflecting the group’s shared experience and bringing its participants together. Equally valuable are the relationships that endure: someone to share unfinished work with, a perspective to return to, or a question to carry back into the studio.

Ten years in, we remain committed to building spaces where artists across the Balkans can grow, question, and create together.

We’d like you in one of them.
